Microbial Source Attribution using Genomic Data

Inference of who infected whom is a fundamental problem in infectious disease epidemiology with applications to surveillance, control, and outbreak investigations. The problem of microbial source attribution (MSA) has attracted a resurgence of interest from statisticians and mathematical modelers that has coincided with rapidly expanding availability of pathogen genomic data.

This workshop concerns the latest advances and approaches for MSA with particular attention paid to novel applications of genomic data. Over two days of presentations and discussion, we will work towards consensus regarding the advantages and disadvantages of numerous recently developed methods. Special attention will be paid the the availability and applicability of software that implements the latest methods and makes them available to a broader community of epidemiologists and outbreak investigators.
